| How's about NO! ;-) Perhaps I am not a true sceptic when I sound so sure about this, especially since I am not very scientifically or astronomically minded, but should I say that it is extremely highly improbable. I base this on my experience of working on film sets for a good portion of my life. Trying to keep everyone quiet on a film set is a nigh impossible task and that includes all their friends and relatives. Just ask the makers of the Star Wars films or Harry Potter. I have witnessed some seriously elaborate methods that still don't work 100% today to keep details of an anticipated film under wraps. Furthermore have you ever noticed that those who claim the film-set theory tend to be people who know sweet FA about filming?
The government in the 1960s were hardly great at keeping secrets anyway, no matter how small. Kennedy's sex life, connections with the mob etc. were an open secret and then laid completely to public scrutiny by the time the decade was out and as for Nixon...
Like all conspiracy theories (and a good number of other opponents to scepticism) the moon hoax's biggest flaw is in its nit-picking whilst igonoring the bigger picture. | |

| I remember seeing a program on this a few years back. The person that claimed the landings were faked was of course not a scientist, and pretty much used a "say what you see approach" for evidence. Unfortunately for him he didn't understand the science behind his claims. Therefore his claims can easily be explained by science. I originally was going to write a lengthy reply to this post highlighting the problems with his statements. However, I found this by legendary skeptic Phil Plait. His article explains all the phenomenon, better than I could (after all he's a scientist ). Scroll down & read on: http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html | |
