| Great... I must check those out. I've heard the Bil Hicks stuff before - he'll let anyone and everyone have it. He's a genius! | |

Yes, and like many genuises were definitely a bit cracked ;-) He was a con-theo in the Michael Moore mode, but like Moore was very entertaining and you had to appreciate his work. I have seen this happen a lot with politics. The amount of people I have seen support a certain ideal to the point that they start to believe stuff they would have otherwise dismissed as nonsense. I prefer the man who is often accused of plagerising Hicks, Dennis Leary, but maybe that is just the libertarian in me ;-)

| He was definitely influenced by him - I like some of Leary's stuff too. I think Bill became very bitter and twisted towards the end. I'd say this had a lot to with his cancer. | |

I think Bill became very bitter and twisted towards the end. I'd say this had a lot to with his cancer. In many ways Leary is what Hicks could have been whether that is a sell-out or a success is down to personal interpretation. Hicks's politicizing used to grate after a while, which probably had something to do with the cancer (interesting aside that Leary, the militant smoker actually quit the habit a few years back) and then there was the weird surreal side to him - goat boy anyone?
