| What think ye' of Yogurts and other daily yogurty drinks?
I notice that they say "scientifically proven health benefits of biffuduss blablalalb". etc. On their advertising. Can they actually say this? Or do they use the escape hatch of "as part of a healthy diet".
Surely you get same benefits from a decent diet - including the "good bacteria".
My Dad, who's heather than Jesus (if he was alive) has started taking Yogurts 'cause he thinks it's healthy. I keep saying just eat better.

| I'm not saying there's anything wrong with yogurts per se. I eat them myself the odd time. But do people think that they provide additional benefits, which the advertisers claim?
You know those little bottles of actimel that you are supposed to take once a day? Is it just another "wallet extraction"? | |

| Thanks Den! That's what I thought - but i had nothing to back it up. Just like the same old tactics from the shredded wheat comercials. "it may keep you heart healthy". That said, I may get sucked into a miniture black hole after that accelerator is switched on. Cheers, R. | |

| You replied before I had chance to write this up:
The bacteria 'lactobaccilus GG' added to some yogurt, are not digested and reach the large intestine intact where they 'top up'the other friendly bacteria living there.
The friendly bacteria fight harmful bacteria, including 'clostridium difficile' that can cause diarrhoea after a coure of antibiotics. Other strains of friendly bacteria like 'lactobaccilus immunitas' have since been discovered; many now appear in yoghurts and other functional foods designed specifically to improve to improve gut health.
