| So far the best and most objective book I have read on the subject of scepticism is "Why People Believe Weird Things". The author, Michael Shermer is the founder of the Skeptic Society and editor of Skeptic magazine (US Sp.) http://www.amazon.co.uk/People-Believe-Weird-Things-Pseudoscience/dp/0805070893http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Why_People_Believe_Weird_ThingsRather than launching an attack on religion, the book gives very fair rational debates on various areas of debunking including UFO abductions, creationism, holocaust deniers, cold readers and even tackles a hero of the author's head on: Ayn Rand. The Ayn Rand chapter, "The Unlikeliest of Cults", is worth buying the book alone. It certainly helped me form a balanced view on the great philosopher's works and ideas. | |

| For me, it is more objective than a lot of the atheist and anti-religious stuff out there. He gives credit where due and only addresses the facts. Shermer's only agenda seems to be to promote scepticism. | |

| Well you have my 100% support.
There is strong talk about stepping out of comfort zones, swallowing ego and keeping an open mind in many philosophies. For me, scepticism is that completely distilled. | |
