| Does anyone feel the subject of Martial arts hocum should be de-bunked openly on TV? I know magic has had its tricks exposed, which was disappointing for me, Mitch Pileggi exposed the secrets of Pro Wrestling, which when I saw it as a hardcore fan was extremely gut wrenching for me, totally destroying my belief system So should there be a tv expose busting the bull industry within the Martial arts Industry? | Absolutely Den!
I'd go one step further than just debunking just the "no touch knock outs".
I'd have the traditional Martial Arts tested against armored assailants at close range. As this is the range fights occur, not sparring range as Geoff Thompson would say.
Proving that "action always beets reaction". I'd also expose how far removed some dojos are from the real thing - again this would be done through pressure testing.
I'd also show the audience the vast gap between between the Dojo and the street. By comparing real violence - CCTV footage, etc. To the simulated, or highly compliant training that a lot of Dojos employ, which have little value to the student.
I'd also explain and show how a criminal selects his target - it will be, most of the time anyway, on an "unequal initiative". That is to say, the criminal will attempt to use deception or distraction in order to gain the initiative (or surprise). Which leaves the victim with little or no chance of recovery.
99% of career criminals have experience, and will want the best chance of success so they will employ any methods that work. Disproportional armament, surprise, deception, multiple opponents, location - the list goes on.
Basically using anything and everything to achieve his goal.
Just a few ideas. | |
