Just bringing it to the wider public attention, Den

It won't stop them though. As a member of James Randi's forum said of the programme, with tongue firmly in cheek, "ah but Discovery Channel are just another branch of the NWO!" I love it when people try to say that hard science is part of a conspiracy theory. If they haven't said it already, they will one day claim that Newton's Laws don't apply as they are part of a conspiracy too. In fact, I am not sure whether "The Matrix" inspired conspiracies don't do this anyway.
There was an interesting piece on an old podcast on Skeptoid I heard today regarding "Number Stations" that will have the con-theos going into overdrive - a sceptic admitting that radio stations have been and are being used for espionage! And this is the very sad truth for historians. Conspiracies have happened and do continue to happen, but not in the stupid implausible and complicated manner that con-theos think. Roman history is full of conspiracies, the gunpowder plot was a conspiracy, insurections the world over were organized through conspiracies, the plot to murder the jews through concentration camps was a conspiracy, Watergate was a conspiracy and trying to cover up Clinton's blow-job or John Major's extra-maritial affairs were conspiracies!
The more nonsense is associated with the word "conspiracy" and the more crap there is that passes as history in our local bookshop the worse it looks when we try to uncover real conspiracies both now and in the past.
